I SAW THE MOON!!!!11!!one!
A tiny crescent of moon was hanging in the early evening sky cheek by jowl with Venus last night, so we nipped the telescope into the back yard to take a look. Wow! I was expecting to see the American flag posing stiffly in the moon's unbreeze, that's how good the view was. Even the not-light part of the moon was clearly visible. The back yard is screened from street lights, so in fact offers much better viewing than the front, and also has less capacity for pissing the neighbours off by making their sensor light turn on every 10 minutes. Just gotta watch out for land mines. :)
